Workforce Challenge
Gilbert was placed into foster care at 14, and endured a painful separation from his parents and siblings. In June, 2008, he graduated from high school, but continued to live with his foster mother. In an effort to make it on his own, Gilbert came to Hub Cities WorkSource Center in December, 2009 for assistance in obtaining employment.
Workforce Solution
After an evaluation, Hub Cities recommended that Gilbert pursue vocational training through an approved WIA training provider. Gilbert took the opportunity to study Solar Energy Systems Installation.
Outcomes & Benefits
Gilbert completed his Solar Installer training in June 2010 and is now eligible to work in the field and begin his career.
